Biles was raised in Spring Texas in the Houston metropolitan area following the time her and her sister Adria were adopted by their parents Ronald and Nellie Biles. Simone began to be interested in the sport of gymnastics at the age of six. Coach Aimee Borman took her to Bannon's Gymnastix in the area, where they were taken on a field trip. Biles was awarded a silver medal for floor and vault in the women's Junior Olympic National Championships of 2010, before she made her debut at the top level of the competition. She was the most dominant in her sport less than two year later. Biles's consistency, her exuberant attitude and level of effort in the four events she competed in -- vault uneven bars balance beam floor exercise as well as floor exercise -- set her above the others.
